The Recording Unit, which is delivered over 4 x 1 day sessions, considers the principles and practice of supporting individuals with communication and physical disabilities to share information in a written, auditory, or visual form. Course participants will explore the range of supportive software available giving consideration to different access methods and the use of symbols, other images, sounds and/or text.
The Unit aims to develop an understanding of issues involved in working collaboratively with the client, family, support agencies and relevant professionals throughout the assessment and implementation cycle. Participants will investigate the processes and decision making issues involved in the assessment of individuals who may require support with accessing and recording information and examine the strategies and issues surrounding the implementation of adapted and/or alternative systems.
